RainbowChristians.com

Another short but sweet post!! A few days ago i was discussing how BigChurch allow for same sex searches, i found this surprising but that was probably my narrow mind! (oh for those that want an update i did tell some of my Christian gay freinds and they were thrilled with the site!!)
Since then i have found a really interesting article online from a Boston newspaper in America, and i thought it might prove an enlightening read for some! This the link to the article http://www.edgeboston.com/index.php?ci=108&ch=news&sc=glbt&sc2=news&sc3=&id=18927, which is discusses an online dating service RainbowChristians. The website for this dating site is www.rainbowchristians.com, a fantastic site dedicated to same sex partnerships. Happy reading!

I am a Christian and was not aware that sites of this nature were available.

I find it quite offensive and very contradictory to have a gay Christian Dating site. In the bible it is clearly stated that homosexuality is a sin and clearly the people who run the site are encouraging or endorsing this behaviour.

i know alot of people will say my views are very outdated but as a christian this is my belief and I cannot see the point behind the website.

I am not a religious person at all and do agree that having Gay christians is a bit of a contradiction, however I do not agree that sites like this should not be set up.

I think that it does provide a place for people who are gay and religious and do not know what to do about it. I would think that there can be major pressures involved with being in a group where certain values are very inportant and if you have different views you are branded an ioutcast or a 'sinner'.

Therefore it is important to have these sites.

In reply to your comments - its nice to see that this site has caused a difference in opinion, especailly over a subject so contemporary. In my opinion i think the site is a brilliant way for people, regardless of thier sexuality, to meet othr Christians. Although, i do understand where you are coming from Emily and i can see that you might find this offensive and a contradiction, but because this site is avaliable to all demoninations of christianity they need to fill everybodies criteria's.

Following your comment about gay relationships being offensive, whilst in South Africa i have noticed that whenever the word GOD is spoken out of context on the television, it is bleeped out! I have never come across this before, and didn't realise this could be perceived as offensive to Christians - you never stop learning!!

i love the fact that this site is up and running, would have been great to have found it when i was writing my dissertation! i think the promotion of same sex partnership is excellent as everyone deserves a chance at love. i just hope that the churches involved are more supportive than the ones i have read about
